We have grown up hearing the saying that goes… “you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. This might or might not be true in your life, but in mine I have found it to be mostly true.

We are not immune to this concept in business. To have business owners that build you up, exceed more, challenge you to do more, might be the best thing we can do. We also have to edit the people we keep close. Making sure that the people are striving for more and are not settling in their style, aesthetic, customer service, reputation, and kindness.

You have seen people get in a rut in life, but I have also seen that in business. Spending time with women owned businesses that are growing and achieving great things is electrifying. It is necessary for my soul and my sanity. We need each other and this past week has solidified that for me.

I have been surrounded with event planners that challenge me, build me up, cheer me on and keep me going. Hearing their worries and lifting them up has made the struggles we deal with easier and more palpable. We need each other, and to deny that is to deny yourself one of the more essential parts of business ownership… one another. You need your community of like-minded strong willed humans. And for that I am thankful.

Here are some amazing images from one of those ladies that I hold close. She is rocking it you guys. Nothing is stopping her from achieving her goals and she sets them lofty and big. This year Kate Elizabeth photography started her own photography workshop and I am sincerely cheering her on. This is not a small feet as such projects can feel daunting with our everyday work load.

She mastered it and completely exceeded my expectation on design and aesthetics. Go check out more information on her new formed instagram page HERE.

spontaneous is still our favorite

Shop_Flats_Clothing_Houston_Flowers.jpeg

When working with other small businesses and creatives, spontaneous events are not only the easiest but necessary.  When one of our all time favorite photographers reached out for a couple quick items to promote their new clothing line, Saltflat, we were excited to dive right in to make something to help highlight their new items.

We love our fellow business creatives and creating for them makes our hearts sing with joy.  We know the struggle and the hard work in maintaining your own small business and helping them along the way might be one of the more important things we do.

To combine another amazing element to the mix, the model Kailey is also part owner of Saltflat and is rocking other businesses as well.  You guys she is a girl boss if I ever saw one. And to make it even better, she is the kindest, sweetest lady you could ever meet.

So did you notice that gorgeous make up and hair, well that is my girl Kailey rocking it. Let me tell you, she just started her own company helping other women with their hair and make up too... you have to check her out Etoilly Artistry

Not impressed yet, go check her and her sister out at their blog called Double Shot of Sass. Now do you see what I meant?  She is on fire and love how she follows her passion no matter where she goes, the hustle is real.

And let's not forget how brilliant Ling Wang is.... she surrounds herself with the hardest working visionaries of Houston and couldn't be more proud to be in her inner circle of friends that help each other along the way.  Thank you friends, can't wait to create more spontaneous shoots with you.  They are clearly becoming my favorite! I'm back

My gosh 2015 wedding kicked my butt!! It truly showed me who was boss and it wasn't me.  It was the most insane whirlwind of creativity, madness, joy, laughter and hard work.  But it was the best combination of things to create the most successful season to date.  With an amazing team at hand, we created some of the most gorgeous events and I couldn't be more proud.

For the next couple of weeks we will be concentrating on bring a new series of events/workshops, blog post of this past season and fully moving into our new studio!!! YES!!! It finally happened. After setting a goal to move into  Maxit flower design's first studio within the first 5 years of business... without really noticing... it happened.  I mean, don't get me wrong, I noticed (I do pay rent).  But I truly forgot that it was my goal to meet the 5yr mark.

My gosh, don't get me started on the importance on setting goals, writing them down, owning them, talking about them and making them come to reality.

So with out further a-do here is a wedding I absolutely loved creating.  This client was a combo, bride, groom and mother team.  They were super sweet, loving, hilarious and meticulous.  They wanted the most memorable, joyous and flower filled event.  And we couldn't have been more excited to have been asked to create flower arrangements for their special event.  This is some of what we created:

flowers and flourishes

This past weekend we hosted one of the first of many workshops and I loved it! Even though it was a lot of hard work, I loved seeing so many smiling face, loving spending a weekend doing something creative.  And then when the flower crowns were made and placed on each one of the ladies heads... oh my!!! I was like a proud momma! I think every young girl, lady, and woman needs to make her own flower crown and get an see herself in the mirror. There is something so girly, so feminine, truly unlike any other experience of femininity in the DIY field.

So today we give you this sneak peak of this past weekend's festivities.  But I also leave you with the fact that there will be many more images of the event and a listing of the amazing sponsors that made it all happen.
