it's all in the details

Sometimes the details is where you find love.  These two rockstars got married in Marfa, Tx last year in a quaint ceremony and the most fun reception.  They are my all time favorite photography artist.  So as these images roll in, you will be getting all my gushy comments.

The Houston wedding community was on pins and needles waiting to see what photographer they would choose and drum roll please... they Bradford Martens, if you don't know him, now you know.  Check out is work HERE.

Melissa, the bride, requested that the wedding be dainty.  Clearly this picture completely captures that.  So brides, as you plan for your wedding day, don't forget the details.  And most importantly remember to tell your photographer to capture them.

Taking bridal portraits before your wedding can be so helpful for you ladies! This is where you can get a chance to see how your dress fits, moves and photographs.  You get to also get a taste of what your bridal bouquet will look like.  And it is still (10 years later) one of my favorite things to create. So ladies if you are on the fence about getting your bridal portraits done and it already is offered by your photographer, do it.  Take a day to pamper yourself, wedding planning is stressful and this will allow you to relax, get your nails/hair done and soak the moment in.  And then the important part, the FLOWERS.  :-)

Here's the bouquet we created for our lovely bride Vanessa.  We were so excited to hear that she loved it.

along the way

The joys of life come along when you least expect it.  Working on this little business of mine through out the years has kept me so busy, so focused, that I forget to notice the little things.  Those things that make it unexpectedly amazing.

This picture captures that perfectly.  A moment in time that shows friendships through many years, and a moment of pure joy celebrating those years.

I met Melissa (the bride) several years ago through some random circumstances (that are mentioned in the last blog post).  And since then I have felt such sincere joy, love and compassion from her. She had made me feel like an artist, business owner and friend. Never did I ever imagine these sweet, adorable relationships flourish through this little business of mine.

Can't wait to see more awesome pics from Bradford Martens!

the best part

White florals with touches of greenery mixed with brass candlesticks are the perfect table decor for Spring.

White florals with touches of greenery mixed with brass candlesticks are the perfect table decor for Spring.

When I was dreaming of this business we have created I thought of many amazing things we would do along the way.  Travel, create gorgeous events, work with amazing clients, learn from amazingly talented artist, etc. And those have all come true.

But what I never planned, never added to the goals list (embarrassingly so) was the way I was going to help others.  Don't get me wrong, I knew I wanted to help people, but I thought that would happen after I made money and with money.  Meaning that I would donate flowers or donate money to charities that needed it.  But I couldn't have dreamt of the ways I have been able to help people and some of the most amazing people at that!

I know with out a doubt I am able to help others because my path was lead and built by people who have helped me. I could see what that looked like, how easy and, effortlessly people helped me, I now can do the same.  So to all you amazing ladies and gentleman that have been such a gorgeous example to me, I thank you!

where it kinda all began

Organic flower crown on bride.

Roughly 3 years ago I sat down with my numero uno lady, my mom.  I remember distinctly thinking, wow I got through two years of this crazy, owning your own business thing, and we are still standing.  Barely. But still standing non the less .

During that powwow we discussed what's next, something we do very regularly.  And truly what I credit to my success. (Powwow, list goals, make them happen, in that order) I mentioned that I had to have a photo shoot.  Get some amazing shots and hang with some creatives that would make that happen.  I had no clue how, with who, nor how to even begin the first steps of making that happen.

Within a couple weeks Christina from Pomp & Circumstance shot me an email asking me if I wanted to create a photo shoot.  WHA?? How does this happen? No joke.  I had never met her, barely knew who she was (as I am a recluse and never get out to network) but it was there.  The email that connected us and made this next level all happen.

And to not bore you with all the details, the result was this photo shoot, which I attribute to Maxit Flower Design's next level of success. Today I wanted to celebrate that moment and share with you again these amazing images by the ever so talented Joseph West.
