take 3

This blog post is on its third take.  After the internet going out on me right as I am about to save the post :-/  so then what happens is that it doesn't save and I have to start all over.  Just a typical day at the Maxit studio.  There are these days that take a little more patience to make things happen than others.  So here it goes...

We loved being contacted by Katie Lamb of BLUSH to create this flower boa.  It has been fun to see it evolve into a new trend in the midst of creating this for her.  It truly photographs so well and is the perfect accessory for a Bride's Bridals or just like this one, a Boudoir shoot.

this thank you

Yesterday I heard the UPS ladies little foot steps as she walked up the driveway to our front door.  I got excited but quickly went through the inventory of items ordered on-line and mentally confirmed that I hadn't ordered anything in a while.  So I quickly ran out to make sure they got the right address, just in case I needed to catch her before she left.

I looked down and saw a little brown box addressed to ME!!! It made my day.  It immediately made me feel so special and loved.  But then I started to unravel this adorable package and this is what I found.  The sweetest, most thoughtful surprise I have ever received from  a photographer.

A hand written thank you note and a large stack of printed images from our photo shoot beautifully wrapped in silk ribbon.

A person that feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected.

So who was this amazing January Santa?  Alicia Pyne of Alicia Pyne Photography.  We got a chance to work with her a couple weeks ago for an epic photo shoot.  It was beautiful designed and executed and felt like I was living in a movie moment for the day.  I will have to keep these images under wraps for now, but when I can release them I will.  They are breath taking!

the boho bride

Kathlee from Beau Tied Events has branded her company to cater to the Boho Bride.  Here style is very established and once you meet her you know why.  She is so sweet and has carried her Austin vibe all the way over to Houston where she now resides.  I had been hearing about her and was excited to have had her reach out to help her for a recent photo shoot.

She executed her vision by hand picking her vendors and adding some personal touches that made this photo shoot one of the more unique shoots I have worked on.  Mostly I loved the touch that the photographer, Heather Curiel added by shooting with her Polaroid.  It created a very vintage look that I haven't seen in a while and totally took me back to the 80's, which who doesn't love!!  Here are a couple images that I loved:

the bride

Being friends with a Bride that we have a chance to work with is the best! Main reason, we get to sneak off with pics that we normally never get to see.  The ones with that smile that only one of her besties can get out of her! This is one of those pics!

moments matter

This bouquet that I made today might have been one of the more meaningful bouquets I have made.  I was contacted by a close acquaintance with the request of creating a small amount of florals for her big day.  I found this odd as she asked about a month out, which is very contrary to her usually very prepared personality.  As I continued to read her email she informed me that her father had unexpectedly fallen ill and that moving the wedding to a date closer was what she had chosen to do in the current situation.  (of course there were some more details that I would like to keep private)

I was moved to tears as I could never imagine being in her shoes and to be so selfless in one of the more selfish moments there is, preparing a wedding. It was beautiful to be reminded that these are the moments that matter.  NOW, not 8 months from now when she could have had her perfect wedding.  But right now celebrating what is already perfect.  The moments that are given to us are so precious, and endlessly valuable.  Celebrating all moments even the ones that are not planned with grace and selflessness is what matters.
